The Sunshine Boys Can't Save Iraq

Nothing but superlatives for Frank Rich, whose glasses need no tint. He seems to see reality quite clearly.

Has He Started Talking to the Walls?

Here is Mr. Frank Rich of the New York Times, once again saying ever so adroitly what we all feel.

Random Thoughts

W-isms:

“He’s the Right Guy for Iraq”
Referring to Iraq Prime Minister al-Maliki

"I know her heart, I know her character. I am confident that Harriet Miers will add to the wisdom and character of our judiciary when she is confirmed as the 110th justice of the Supreme Court."
Need I say more

"I know there´s a lot of speculation that these reports in Washington mean there´s going to be some kind of graceful exit out of Iraq. This business about a graceful exit just simply has no realism to it whatsoever. We´re going to stay in Iraq to get the job done as long as the government wants us there."
... Uh-huh

"I Will Not Withdraw Even If Laura And Barney Are The Only Ones Supporting Me."

...Barney

“We’ll succeed unless we quit.”
During his first visit to Vietnam

"I cannot answer on behalf of the U.S. administration but I can tell you that from our side our forces will be ready by June 2007," al-Maliki told ABC television after meeting President Bush in Jordan." - (November 2006)

"If the political process continues to go positively, if the developments with the [Iraqi] security forces continue to go as it is going, we will still be able to make fairly substantial reductions after these elections, in the spring and summer of next year." Gen. Casey - (July 2005)

Some Recent Govern-mental Euphemisms

Hunger = food insecurity

Civil War = new phase of sectarian violence

Troop Withdrawal = troop re-deployment

W. is just getting back from his “productive only in the photo-op sense" Middle East get away, where nothing was accomplished, and in the end served only to exacerbate the political chaos and murderous mayhem that now defines Iraq.

Oh, by the way – Sadam is going to be hung…

...so, as I was saying, Bush has the look of a man who can’t help getting in his own way. The Baker commission’s leaked suggestions are logical and seem like a reasonable way out of the current policy of digging deeper into quicksand. Bush better give up his stay the course bullshit now and ease out while the easing is still somewhat "good."

Oh yea. Before I forget to ask – where the hell is what’s his name, ummm, Karl Rove these days? Funny how reality has a way of transcending even the most brilliantly conceived bullshit.

It seems there are only two ways you can go from hero to goat that quickly; professional sports, and professional politics.
